Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) is committed to self-determination, diversity and inclusion, and against any discrimination and hostility towards LGBQTIA+. Since 2020, this attitude has also manifested itself in the company’s own network “Be You at URW”. Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier will also be a place where everyone will be welcome and safe, regardless of age, gender, faith or sexual orientation. To make this clear to the public, Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier showed its colours at this year’s Christopher Street Day in Hamburg with its own truck and the message: “Self-determination now! United against trans*phobia”.
The Be You team at URW is committed to overcoming any kind of prejudice in everyday life, to living diversity and to creating a special sense of belonging within the group of companies for everyone. At the same time, the Be You team organises events and workshops at regular intervals to further strengthen, protect and challenge diversity and inclusion at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. URW operates in 12 countries and on two continents, and welcomes employees from different cultures and paths of life at all locations to build successful and inclusive teams. The company’s goal “Reinvent Being Together” is an inclusive vision not only for the sites but also for the visitors on site.
Under the motto “Welcome as you are”, URW was present with its own Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier truck at this year’s Christopher Street Day in Hamburg, which was the highlight of Hamburg Pride Week on 5th August. With this, URW made it clear that the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier will also be a place where everyone is welcome when it opens in spring 2024.
Miguel Berraondo, Chief Designer at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Austria & Germany and thus also responsible for the design of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier as well as a member of the internal network “Be You at URW”, says: “No matter whether employees, business partners or visitors; at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier everyone will be welcome, just as they are. Our project in the heart of HafenCity is already a place of diversity. Almost 100 people from more than 15 nations work hand in hand every day in the URW project development team to make the quarter a reality. We underlined this mindset with our own truck at this year’s CSD in Hamburg. We are particularly pleased that some of our future tenants also participated with great commitment.”
