Christopher Street Day was once again the highlight of Hamburg’s Pride Week this year on August 3. The official motto of this year’s parade was “5 to 12! You & me against right-wing pressure.” 250.000 people lined the streets and transformed Hamburg’s city center into one big party mile.
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) was also there again with its own Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier truck: With the motto “Viva La Love”, the URW team made a clear statement for an open and inclusive society in the colorful hustle and bustle together with several future rental partners of the quarter, such as Breuninger, Douglas, Derbe, Kinopolis and Lego Discovery Centre. As part of Hamburg Pride, URW also made it clear that the new mixed-use quarter, which will celebrate its grand opening on October 17, 2024, will also be a place where everyone will be welcome and safe, regardless of age, gender, faith or sexual orientation.
Empowerment, diversity and inclusion are key components of URW’s corporate identity – the company clearly distances itself from any discrimination, exclusion or hostility towards the LGBQTIA+ community.
Since 2020, this attitude has also been practiced in the company’s own “Be You at URW” network. The “Be You at URW” team is committed to overcoming prejudices of all kinds in everyday life, embracing diversity and creating a special sense of belonging within the Group for everyone. At the same time, the BeYou team regularly organizes events and workshops to further strengthen, protect and challenge diversity and integration at URW.
