The Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier construction site is considered one of the largest inner-city construction sites in Europe and a tour of it is a real experience. Last week, 22 residents were able to see this for themselves at the 10th Neighbourhood Event of the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier: as part of the event, they were brought up to date in the showroom at Sumatrakontor, were able to ask questions and were given exclusive insights into the construction progress during a guided construction site tour. read more

“One day, ten construction sites”: under this motto, the ten development projects in HafenCity opened their construction fences on Sunday, 4 September 2022, giving the more than 2,000 participating visitors exclusive views of the most exciting construction projects in the young district on the Elbe. In addition to guided tours on or around the construction sites, there was an exciting entertainment programme, especially for families – with children’s amusement and various hands-on activities. read more

On 18 June 2022 at 9 o’clock the starting signal was given for the now twentieth HafenCity Run. This year, a running team from Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier once again took on the challenge of the approximately four-kilometre run with a common goal: naturally, the participants, following their sporting ambition, wanted to reach the end of the maritime route through Hamburg’s HafenCity as quickly as possible. The main motivation, however, was to raise money for a good cause through the sweaty event. read more

They are the tallest Advent candles in Hamburg – the crane candles on the construction site of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, one of the largest in Europe: 75 metres high rise the candles made of fairy lights. Every evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm they shine above the rapidly growing buildings between the Elbe and Überseeallee, between Magdeburger Hafen and San-Francisco-Strasse. read more

As part of a Zoom video event, 24 HafenCity residents took part in what was once again a very enjoyable information and dialog event to find out the current status on the construction site of what is currently Europe’s largest inner-city building project. While enjoying the previously delivered Christmas stollen and mulled wine, there was also the opportunity to ask open questions. As always, participants were selected on a first-come-first-served basis, taking into account whether they had already been able to attend one of the previous events. read more

Since mid-November, an initial 100 protective suits have been distributed to homeless people in need throughout Germany, 20 of them in Hamburg alone. The sustainably produced Sheltersuit is a multifunctional, windproof, waterproof and warming garment that can be converted into a sleeping bag and can alleviate the acute hardships of homelessness, especially in the cold seasons. read more

The Alster, Hamburg’s blue center and important recreational area in the middle of the city, attracts thousands of water sports enthusiasts, joggers and walkers, especially on nice days. Particularly the west bank is characterized by a lot of nature and a large park. But also the many small canals are lined by gardens or green overgrown banks and offer habitat for many animals – from the majestic swan to the more exotic turtle.
