On 18 June 2022 at 9 o’clock the starting signal was given for the now twentieth HafenCity Run. This year, a running team from Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier once again took on the challenge of the approximately four-kilometre run with a common goal: naturally, the participants, following their sporting ambition, wanted to reach the end of the maritime route through Hamburg’s HafenCity as quickly as possible. The main motivation, however, was to raise money for a good cause through the sweaty event. read more

With an annual gross value added of around 4.4 billion euros (in corona pandemic free years), the tourism industry is considered Hamburg’s second most important economic factor after the port industry. This important economic factor and its numerous companies and institutions active in tourism, including Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Germany with the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, is represented among others by the tourism association Tourismusverband Hamburg e. V. (TVH). On the evening of 8 June 2022, Wolfgang Raike, Chairman of the Board at TVH, and Susanne Brennecke, Managing Director at TVH, together with Dirk Hünerbein, Director of Development Austria & Germany at URW, and other representatives of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, welcomed around 50 association members and guests to the showroom. read more

Just a few days ago, #UNUEBERSEEBAR, the longest curated work of art in northern Germany, successfully celebrated its premiere at the construction fence of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier with 385 meters. On May 17, Hamburger Abendblatt gave 20 readers the opportunity to take a look behind the artfully designed barriers of Europe’s largest inner-city construction site as part of an exclusive guided tour. The extraordinary tour was rounded off by a panel discussion in the showroom of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier and culinary highlights from Hobenköök in Oberhafen. read more

#UNUEBERSEEBAR (combination of the German words for unmissable and overseas) is currently the longest curated artwork in Northern Germany. Mentalgassi, an artist collective from Hamburg and Berlin, has portrayed 33 people from HafenCity in collaboration with Hamburg’s Affenfaust Gallery and in cooperation with Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier. read more

Until 2020, the construction site of the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier grew more in depth than in height: Bored piles, jacking piers and anchors up to 30 meters underground were set and the floor slab was poured – as a foundation for the basement floors 3, 2 and 1. But in the past months of 2021, which is now coming to an end, did the buildings visibly rise up to the sky – in part, incl. the basement floors, seven floors and more than 100,000 square meters of floor slab and raft area have already been erected. At times, 800 people per day poured 59,000 cubic meters of concrete, laid 11,000 tons of steel reinforcement and installed 3,800 tons of composite beams and columns from steel. read more

Every evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm they shine above the rapidly growing buildings between the Elbe and Überseeallee, between Magdeburger Hafen and San-Francisco-Strasse. read more
